National Front (Barisan Nasional) Coalition

The politics of Malaysia takes place in a framework of a federal parliamentary monarchy, whereby the Prime Minister of Malaysia is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Federal legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of parliament, the Senate (Dewan Negara) and the House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat). Since independence, politics has been dominated by the Barisan Nasional (National Front) coalition led by the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO).

It start up with a Coalition Party and later with Barisan Nasional, a power sharing formula for Malaysia multi-racial community that act as a important factor in nation’s success.

The country is ruled by a government led by the Barisan Nasional (BN), or National Front, which is a coalition of multi-racial parties. The present day government has been in power since the country's independence in 1957. The ruling party's three main component parties are the United Malays National Organisation (Umno), Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC).
