Prime Minister Malaysia

Leadership is a fundamental quality required in the people of any country in order for that country to progress, develop and make its mark on the global stage. In this respect, Malaysia has been blessed by men and women who have all given freely of themselves to build this country, each in his or her own distinctive way. That Malaysia has come a long way in her first 50 years is testament to the sacrifices an vision our leaders have had.

This book celebrates a select group of people in politics, government and the corporate sector who have led with distinction. It is timely that Malaysians know more about the lives of leaders who have done much for the country. The lessons drawn and the inspiration derived from such a compilation as this one can be especially important to the younger generation of Malaysians. They must build in themselves a belief that if other Malaysians have scaled the greatest heights, then they can too. Equally, Malaysia’s youth must also have a grounded perspective of the reality of what it takes to achieve unparalleled success in various fields of endeavour. In achieving these objectives, ‘Malaysia Leader’ is indeed a resource that we can all look to.

Looking forward to the next 50 years, we need leaders of the same caliber and dedication, of the same ideals and commitment to the country, and, importantly also equipped to face the many new challenges the 21st century will invariably bring. In celebrating leadership in Malaysia, this book is a necessary step in developing leadership that will serve the country well, come 2057 and indeed beyond.
