Malaysia just celebrated our 50th anniversary of independence last year. It has been a momentous fifty years, fifty years of peace, prosperity and progress. We certainly are proud with what we have achieved within this short span of time. Given the diverse ethnic composition of the country, the achievement of Malaysia is remarkable, one which the nation can be justly proud of. Nevertheless, we should thank for the vision and dedication of our leaders who leads the nation to be one of the most prosperous and stable country in South East Asia and on the way to becoming a developed nation by the year 2020.
Our Prime Minister also called upon the country to embark on a new challenge, namely "Mission 2057" to ensure continued development in all aspects since independence and after Vision 2020 had been achieved. In “Mission 2057”, the government hoped to formulate a mission taking into account current changes so that younger generation to play a role in spurring national development to a higher plane.
Since attention will be on human capital development especially on the culture, harmony, unity, cooperation and tolerance in religion in our people, we hope that the publication of Malaysia Leader that recognize and chart the profile of only our distinguish leaders will act as a comprehensive and useful source of reference and facilitate as an aspiration for our younger generations.
In realizing our vision of the government to build a better Malaysia and as an effort in appreciating and recognition their contributions for the nation development, on behalf of the board, I wish to thank the corporate sponsors, organizations and individuals for their kind and outstanding support in helping to make the Malaysia Leader initiative a success.
